Cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the United States flourished between 2001-2009. The UAE and US deepened trade, investment and commercial cooperation in the technology and renewable energy sectors, and organizations like New York University, Cleveland Clinic and the Guggenheim Museum all announced significant developments in the UAE.
The closeness of this relationship was underscored in 2008, when President Bush became the first sitting US President to visit the UAE. During that visit, and in a speech made in Abu Dhabi, President Bush stressed that the most meaningful bond between our two nations was forged as part of a common fight against the forces of extremism and shared desire for freedom and justice.
We are honored that President Bush has provided his unique perspective on the UAE-US relationship, as part of our 50 Years | 50 Faces storytelling program. President Bush is a true friend who has experienced the UAE’s warm culture first-hand and has also witnessed the country’s rapid development and growth as one of America’s strongest allies.
